The parts to fix your own car, or any other mechanical equipment, should come from your own stockpile. They could also come from other peoples cars when the opportunity arises.

Things such as starters, alternators, relay switches, hoses, belts, etc. are things you should have more than one of. Plan ahead. If you own an older vehicle, then think about buying another one for parts if you have the space to keep it.</description>
